Fog Fest 2024

Have you ever heard of Fog Fest?

It is a yearly event held at The Farm on the UC Santa Cruz campus; we aim to unite people through their shared love of fog!

We had a wonderful turnout at Fog Fest 2024!

We started the evening off with a tour of the fog collectors on campus. Peter Weiss, the lead designer for this project summarized how the collectors work. Then Professor Weiss presented both the garden bed collectors and the artistically designed Fog Trees.

Afterward the tour, a local band called “Amiel Goodman and Friends” played for our participants while dinner was served. The menu included a coconut curry over rice, fresh salads, roasted tofu, some lovely dishes brought by the guests, and an apple crumble for dessert.

Finally, we held a symposium consisting of a variety of speakers who are issuing various fog projects. We heard about their work involving fog and how it relates to the ecosystem, soil, engineering, and art.

We want to personally thank everyone who came and joined us for our yearly Fog Fest Event!

A special shoutout to our presenters: Peter Weiss, Jennifer Parker, Anja Ulfedt, Dan Fernandez, Kyle Baker (and his team), Sara Baguskas, Gonzalo Galetto, Clive Bagshaw, Jonathon Switzer, and Jacinto Salz, thank you so much for being there and teaching us a little bit about your work.
